Welcome to the 8th day of the 30-day typing course. Today, we are going to make a revision of the top row with the full alphabet skills that we have developed over the last week. The purpose of this lesson is to turn it into an automatic, ingrained skill through focused practice.
Revision is the essential practice for long-term success. In the case of typing, it reinforces our muscle memory, corrects lingering errors, and builds the confidence that we need to become a truly proficient typist. Before going ahead to the next lesson of free typing lessons, today’s lessons will play an important role in the upcoming progress of typing.
Why Revision Is Key to Typing Mastery?
Learning perfect type is like building a house. Each new lesson adds another brick. A revision day is like adding mortar between the bricks—it connects everything and makes the entire structure strong and stable. By revisiting the top row patterns and full alphabet drills, we are ensuring that these skills become second nature, freeing up your mind to focus on the content you are typing, not the process of typing itself.
What We Are Revising Today
This session will combine the key elements from the past few lessons into one powerful workout:
- Top Row Fluency: We will revisit the common letter combinations (like
er
,ou
,io
) from Day 6 to ensure that we can type them quickly, smoothly, and correctly. - Full Keyboard Movement: We will practice the vertical finger drills (like
qaz
,wsx
) from Day 7 to reinforce seamless movement between all three major rows. - Speed and Accuracy: The ultimate goal is to perform these drills with increasing speed while maintaining an accuracy rate of 98% or higher.
Day 8 Revision Task: The Ultimate Workout
Today’s online typing practice task is a challenging session that will test all of our alphabetic skills. You will start with a warm-up of top row patterns and vertical drills. Then, the exercise will present you with a series of challenging words and sentences specifically chosen to use the entire keyboard. In the next lessons, we will move to the capitalization and shift key uses. Before it, this revision is very important.
Tips for an Effective Revision Session
-
- Identify Your Weakest Link: As you practice, pay attention to which letters or combinations cause you to slow down or type with errors. Make a mental note to practice those specific patterns a little extra. If possible, then type that combination of letters again and again.
- Test Yourself: After this lesson, consider taking a typing test. Comparing your score now to your score from a week ago is a great way to see your tangible progress.
