Welcome to day 14 of our 30-day free typing lesson. In the last lesson, we learned to type the numbers 1 to 5 using your left hand. Today, we will practice typing numbers 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0.
And today we will complete the numbers typing and be able to type numbers efficiently.
This is an important part of our free typing lessons and will boost your overall typing speed and accuracy with numbers.
Reaching the Right-Hand Numbers
Just like with the left-hand numbers, your fingers should reach upward from the home row without moving your wrists. This keeps your typing smooth and steady.
Finger Guide for 6–0 (Right Hand)
Here’s how each finger will stretch to type the top-row numbers on the right:
- Index Finger (on ‘J’): Reaches up-left for 6 and straight up for 7
- Middle Finger (on ‘K’): Reaches up for 8
- Ring Finger (on ‘L’): Reaches up for 9
- Pinky Finger (on ‘;’): Reaches up for 0
Just like the previous lesson, our index finger types two keys — and today handles both 6 and 7. Give attention to the index finger, some extra practice to be good at number typing.
Day 14 Practice Task: Full Number Row Drills
We will start by practicing the new right-hand numbers. Then, we’ll bring it all together by typing 1234567890 repeatedly. Remember, practice makes a man perfect. So, try to keep practicing to be efficient in typing.
Tips to Master All 10 Numbers
- Focus on the Middle: Practice the crossover area (4–7) where your left and right index fingers meet. This helps both hands work smoothly together.
- Type Real Numbers: Try typing your birthday, phone number, or even a famous PIN/Zip code — like
110001. - Warm Up First: Do a quick round of Day 13 (1–5) drills to warm up your fingers before today’s full-row practice.
