Welcome to the lesson of day 26. We have almost learned all the techniques; now it’s time to polish them by practice and improve on speed. If you have followed the complete course, we have already encouraged you to type with accuracy. Hopefully you did this, and accurate typing is at your fingertips. Now speed matters, and you have to be fully focused on the speed.
Start Your Typing Task Now
This is our most popular timed test. Below we have provided a very fresh typing task and also provided some links to typing tasks that you may have used during the course, because sometimes we have recommended that you test yourself, and may be you followed.
Choose Your Challenge and Test Yourself
After participating in the above task once or twice, you may also choose any of the following. If you are a registered user, you can see a leaderboard after completing the task. If you got in the positions, you are rock and roll. Because in the leaderboard, we store the last 30 days of data and show the topmost 30 users’ leaderboard.
Understanding Your Results
After you complete a test, you’ll see two key scores: WPM and Accuracy. Here’s what they mean:
- WPM (Words Per Minute): We hope that you are very aware of typing measurement. We told you many times that five characters are considered as one word. Not the dictionary-like words that are counted in the typing test measurement.
- Accuracy: This measures what percentage of the characters you typed were correct. Please note if you typed a letter wrong and went back by backspace, it will remove the wrong type and count as correct typing. High accuracy is crucial, as it means you spend less time fixing mistakes. Aim for 98% or higher!
How to Improve Your Typing Test Score
The secret to a great score is consistent, smart practice. Here are the three best ways to improve:
- Touch Typing: The most effective way to get faster is to learn how to type without looking at the keyboard. We have shown you a complete roadmap and a typing task on touch typing. You should learn it and implement it in your typing journey.
- Follow a Structured Course: Random practice may be good, but a structured course is the best way to achieve mastery in this skill. Our free 30-day course will teach you everything from the ground up.
- Practice Daily: Consistency is key. Even 15 minutes of daily typing practice will lead to huge improvements over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good WPM score?
For most professional jobs, a speed of 50-60 WPM is considered very good. An average typist is around 40 WPM. However, your first goal should always be to achieve an accuracy of 98% or more, as accuracy is the foundation of useful speed.
How often should I take a typing test?
Typing tests can be taken during the learning period of the typing. After completing the course, you will realize that there is no more test typing task required. By doing jobs in your workplace, it will improve automatically.
Does completing the course end up taking a typing task?
It depends. If you are doing wrong in the typing, then you must need to review the course; otherwise, it is not required.
