Why Alphanumeric Typing Matters

Earlier, we discussed the places where the alphanumeric number is required.

  • Passwords: MyPassw0rd2025
  • Usernames: Mr_jhon91
  • Addresses: Flat 101, B-Wing, 123 Park Avenue
  • Product Codes: Model-XJ450-B
  • Dates & Times: The event is on July 31, 2025, at 10:30 PM.

It is very important to type without looking at the keyboard.

The Key Skill: Seamless Switching

The primary goal is typing practice is to eliminate the mental “pause” that often occurs when switching from typing alphabet to numbers, and back again to the letter. This is the lesson which have been specifically designed to make that transition feel as natural as typing any other word.

Day 15 Practice Task: Real-World Scenarios

Today’s lesson and task are highly exciting and important. We will not be typing randomly. Instead, we will be typing lists that simulate real-world data entry tasks. The exercises will include:

  • A list of common password and username formats.
  • Product model numbers.
  • Addresses, using an Indian context.
  • Invoice numbers and reference codes.

Tips for Alphanumeric Fluency

  • Don’t Change Hand Position: Reiterate the core rule. Our hands must stay anchored on the home row, with our fingers doing all the reaching for the number keys.
  • Anticipate the Switch: Try to make a mental note of the upcoming typing number or letter. This anticipation will prepare your fingers for the reach in the proper row and keys.
  • Practice with Your Data: For extra practice, open our AI-generated Typing Game page, where you can also paste your text and practice like you did above.

We hope that you are doing well on our typing test typing games.
