Welcome to the last week of our 30-day free typing lessons. Today, we have reached the 25th of the lessons. Already you have learned the keyboard, built muscle memory, and typed words, sentences, and paragraphs. Now it is time to test yourself. Today is your first official timed typing test day.
You do not need to wait. Let’s start typing and see your performance. It will tell you how you learn and how much you practice.
We hope that you are happy with your performance. Because a hard worker never fails, and you passed because you have given concentration, patience, and practice a lot more. If you are not happy and could not score at least 30 words per minute today, you must make a revision of 30 days to become stronger.
Why We Do This Test
A course without measurement is incomplete; however, we make it daily because our tool measures by default speed, accuracy, and CPM, and advanced AI integration makes it more user-friendly, and it analyzes your pattern of mistakes. So, today’s measurement is very important because it is telling your learning and practical implementation.
Understanding WPM
As you know, WPM means “words per minute.” It is the main way to measure typing speed. One “word” in this rule means five characters. Spaces are counted too. So, if you type 250 characters in one minute, you typed 50 words. That is 50 WPM. Please note our tool does not exclude your misspellingsor wrong inputs. So, we have implemented another measurement, and that is accuracy.
Look again at the tool. When you finish, it shows WPM. Do not worry if the number feels small. Beginners often see 20 to 30 WPM. With practice, it grows. Many professional typists reach 70 to 100 WPM. Your goal today is not to chase big numbers. Your goal is to see your number and understand it.
Understanding Accuracy
Speed is not enough, and accuracy matters more. A fast typist who makes many mistakes is not efficient. They spend time fixing errors. They lose rhythm. Accuracy shows how clean your typing is. A good accuracy target is 95% or higher. That means less than 5 errors in every 100 keystrokes. The tool shows this too. The combined result of WPM and accuracy truly tells your mastery in typing.
How to Take the Test
You already know how to type. But a timed test feels different. The clock ticks. The pressure rises. Mistakes increase. To help you, here are some simple tips.
- Stay calm: Breathe before starting. Relax your shoulders. Calm hands type better.
- Take poster: As we have many times during the course, how do you have to sit in front of a PC/laptop?
- Find rhythm: Do not rush. Do not sprint. Keep a steady pace. Flow is better than bursts.
- Ignore tiny errors: If you miss one letter, keep moving. Do not stop for small mistakes. Focus on the sentence.
- Eyes forward: Look at the text, not the keyboard. Trust your fingers.
- Use all fingers:Do not fall back to two-finger typing. Trust your training.
Tips to Improve after the Test
Once you see your WPM and accuracy, you may feel motivated. Maybe you want higher speed. Maybe you want cleaner typing. Both are possible. Here are some steps:
- Practice short drills every day. There are so many typing tasks that have been added, and also we have so many typing games like Word Falling. Use them regularly until you get your desired outcome.
- Focus on accuracy first. Speed will come later.
- Use the same tool again and again. Consistency helps.
- Check which letters or words slow you down. Practice them more.
- Review your mistakes after each test. In this case our AI Typing Practice will help you if you have signed up.
Common Problems in Timed Tests
New learners often face the same issues. Let us list them:
- Rushing: Trying to type faster than you can handle may result in lots of errors. Don’t worry, our AI tool will tell you your pattern of error and give you personalized tasks that will make you errorless and speedy.
- Looking down: Breaking focus by staring at keys. Result: lost flow.
- Backspace addiction: Fixing every error instantly. Result: wasted time.
- Nervous fingers: Hands shaking from stress. Result: poor control.
The solution is patience. Do not chase speed on Day 25. Chase stability. If you stay calm today, you will type faster tomorrow. And complete the remaining lessons and use our typing test tools for various time-limited tasks.
